Figurative artist, born in London. She studied at Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and the Arts. After focusing for many years on drawing, she shifted her energies more to figurative sculpture, and created many portraits, including one of the athlete Steve Ovett. Fascinated by African sculpture, she produced a BBC television documentary on the sculpture village Tengenenge, in Zimbabwe, with author Peter McCarthy. A founding member of the Fiveways Artists’ Group in Brighton, she regularly hosted one of the Open Houses showcasing her own and others’ work. She exhibited in Sussex until the end of her life. Her last work before her death from cancer was The Juggler. Installed in front of the entrance to Hove Town Hall in December 1995, it was a replica in bronze of the sculpture that won her the Sussex Arts Club Award for Visual Arts. Most of her work is now in private collections in the UK and abroad.
