Ernest Walter Johnson (b. 1853)

Architect born at Southport, Merseyside. He was articled to John Sidebotham of Southport and worked for some years in the office of Edward Solomons of Manchester. In about 1878 he established his own practice in Southport in Lord Street. In 1887, he won the design competition for the Eliza Fernley Lifeboat Memorial (relief panel by Thomas Robinson), subsequently erected in Duke Street Cemetery, Southport, Merseyside. He retired around 1916.
