E. Frank Theed (c.1850–1926)

Sculptor, born Edward Francis Toone Theed, in Paddington, London, a son of the sculptor William Theed II (1804–1891). He studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where in 1871 he was awarded a silver medal for the best model from the antique and the best restoration of an antique torso. He showed at the annual Royal Academy exhibitions, 1873–88, a total of 19 pieces, mostly portrait busts and medallions. He was an Associate of the Royal Academy. His marble bust of Sir John Simon (dated 1906), the sanitary reformer, pathologist and physician, is in St Thomas’ Hospital, south London.
