ISBN: 978–1–8383976–4–7 (softback)

£20.00

This first in-depth publication on Fleischmann’s career examines his work in the context of his contemporaries. Chapters cover his early life and background in Bratislava; his training and early ceramic work in Vienna; Slovak modernism; his idyllic time in Bali; his vibrant life in Sydney, where he was a founding member of the Merioola Group and began working with synthetic resins; and London, his mature period where he began carving in Perspex, creating water fountains and developed a thriving practice which ranged from portraiture and religious sculpture to large public commissions. Two chapters in particular draw close comparison with émigré sculptors Peter László Péri and Willi Soukop.
